Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatments

The Orgasm-Shot®

The Orgasm-Shot® (O-Shot®) is a non-surgical procedure performed in the office where a patient’s own growth factors is injected into the tissue around the clitoral glans and the area of the G-spot to improve sexual sensitivity and orgasm.

Patients experience improvement in sensitivity, orgasm, moisture, stimulation, and arousal.

Many women feel significantly improved sexual arousal and orgasmic intensity beginning a day to 1-3 weeks after injection.

Effects appear to last between 1 to 3-4 years.

When improvements wane, the shot can be repeated.

The O-Shot® has also helped many women resolve urinary leakage and incontinence.

What are the benefits of the O-Shot®?

  • Stronger, more frequent orgasm
  • Improved vaginal sensitivity
  • Decreased pain for patients with dyspareunia (painful sex)
  • Increased natural lubrication
  • Improved symptoms of urinary incontinence

How quickly will I experience results after the O-Shot®?

Results from the O-Shot vary with each woman. Most women will experience improved sexual arousal and orgasmic intensity beginning a dew days to a few weeks after injection. Some do not experience a notable difference but are still a candidate for a repeat injection to achieve the desired effect.

Will O-Shot® work for me?

Improvements in sexual symptoms from the O-Shot® have been reported in an estimated 80-90% of women.

How long will effects from the O-Shot® last?

Effects appear to last anywhere between 1 to 4 years. Most women repeat an injection around 18 months after their initial injection.

When should I repeat the O-Shot®?

When improvements wane, the shot can be repeated.

Is the O-Shot® safe?

Yes. The O-Shot® is safe and associated with minimal discomfort. It is performed as a quick non-surgical in-office procedure.

What is the MonaLisa Touch Laser?

MonaLisa Touch is a gentle medical laser that delivers controlled energy to the vaginal wall tissue. It stimulates the cells in the vaginal mucosa (vaginal tissue) to produce new collagen and elastin, and improves blood vessel supply. The CO2 laser energy is delivered in two steps via a probe inserted inside the vaginal canal to treat the interior, and an outside probe to treat the exterior tissues.

Am I a Candidate for the Treatment?

Treatments are recommended for any woman who wishes to treat or prevent vaginal atrophy symptoms due to the lack of estrogen, or who suffer from lichen sclerosis.

These include women who:

  • are going through or have gone through menopause and are having vaginal dryness, pain with intercourse, urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, recurrent urinary tract infections, recurrent vaginal infections, and/or lack of sensation
  • are experiencing post-menopausal symptoms from surgical removal of ovaries (sometimes during hysterectomy), breast cancer treatment, or other cancer treatment
  • cannot receive estrogen therapy or prefer not to use hormones
  • are experiencing symptoms from lichen sclerosis and
  • are not having relief from topical steroids
are experiencing vaginal symptoms due to breastfeeding or longterm birth control use

What is Vaginal Atrophy?

Vaginal atrophy is thinning, drying, and inflammation of the vaginal walls due to a decline in estrogen due to natural or surgical menopause, breast cancer treatments, or removal of ovaries. Symptoms include: vaginal dryness, itching, burning, urinary frequency and/or urgency, vaginal laxity, and pain during intercourse.

Where can I have this done?

The MonaLisa Touch is an in-office procedure performed by your physician.

Does the procedure hurt?

The procedure is virtually painless and requires no anesthesia. Some patients may experience some discomfort when the probe is inserted, but the actual treatment is not painful. Many patients report that it feels like a gentle vibration. We do apply numbing cream for treatment of the external tissues as these areas are more sensitive.

How many laser treatments are needed?

Patients receive three treatments, spaced six weeks apart. Additional treatments may be needed depending on severity of symptoms. For patient receiving external treatment only for lichen sclerosis, we recommend 3-5 treatments. yearly or every other year depending on initial response and symptom severity. Our medical providers, after careful examination, evaluate and recommend your optimal treatment plan.

When will I see results?

Most patients feel improvement with the first week after the first treatment. We typically see progressive improvement over subsequent treatments and several months after completion of the series.

How long does it last?

Patients should expect to come back annually to every 2 years for a single maintenance treatment.

What are my limitations after the procedure is done and what is the recovery process?

Patients should refrain from sexual activity for 2-3 days after each treatment. Some women report slight localized discomfort for a few hours to a couple of days following the laser treatment. NO time off work is needed. Most women almost immediately resume their normal routine.

Is this procedure safe for women with breast cancer?

Yes, MonaLisa Touch treatment is particularly well suited for patients who cannot, or prefer not to receive estrogen therapy.

What clinical trials have been conducted on the MonaLisa Touch?

A multisite study was conducted by Dr. Mickey Karram, Director of Fellowship Program on Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery at The Christ Hospital and Dr. Eric Sokol, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Stanford University Medical Center. Findings from trials evaluating the laser treatment on postmenopausal women and breast cancer survivors experiencing vaginal health issues have shown positive results.
